Know Your Types of Fishing, Typical From Indonesia
1. Shrimp trawl
Shrimp trawl or usually called trawling is shaped bag nets drawn by one or two ships, either through the side or rear. This tool is an effective tool, but not selectively so as to destroy all in its path.
Hence the tendency of this fishing gear can lead to destructive fishing gear. The rules that apply to the operation of the tool is relatively sufficient, but in practice often found deviations which can ultimately harm all parties.
The main objective is to catch the shrimp trawl shrimp and fish are also basic water (demersal fish).
2. Bag seine
Bag seine is a type of fishing nets which consist of cone-shaped bag (bag), weight (body), two pieces of the wing (wing) mounted on both sides of the mouth of the net, and rope puller (warp).
This tool is quite traditional, not damage the environment, and its size is relatively small. Bag seine consists of payang, stupid, and beach seine.
3. Seine rings (purse seine)
Ring seine nets which are rectangular, fitted wrinkle rope that ringed tied to the bottom of the netting to form a wrinkle and like a bowl.
Catcher tool is intended to capture the hordes of surface fish (pelagic fish). Fishing gear is quite effective against the target species and not destructive tendencies.
4. Nets Gills
Mesh gill nets are rectangular, the same mesh size equipped with a float at the top and weights at the bottom of the net.
Operated with the aim of confronting hordes of fish by fishermen passively with the size of the mesh size. Tentacle consists of Tingting (piece) with mesh size, length and width are varied.
In operation usually consists of some tinting nets are merged into one unit long nets, operated by washed away, permanently mounted on a water looped or swept by bottom waters.
Examples drift gill nets (drift Gillnet), fixed gill nets (Gillnet sets), gill nets circumference (encircling Gillnet), klitik gill nets (Gillnet shrimp), and trammel net.
5. Lift Nets
Nets pengkapan lift is a device which way the operation is done by lowering and lifting vertically.
It is made of nylon that resembles a mosquito net, nets relatively small size of the eye that is 0.5 cm. This tool resembles a box shape, the operation can use a lamp or power bait as fish attraction.
These nets are operated from a boat, raft, equipment or buildings with human hands. This gear has a mesh size of very small size and effective way to catch small pelagic fish species.
The tendency is destructive and lift nets are not selective. An example is the chart boat lift nets or raft (boat / raft net lifts), step on the chart (bamboo platform lift net), and scoop (scoop net).
6. Eye Fishing
Fishing is one of the catcher device that consists of two components main, namely: rope (line) and hook (hook). The number of different hook, the hook single, double, and even the thousands.
The principle of this gear to stimulate the fish with natural bait or artificial eye attached to the pole.
This tool basically consists of two main components of the rope and hook. However, according to its type can be equipped also other components such as: stem (pole), a weight (sinker), float (float), and swivel (swivel).
How could operate in pairs settled on a waterfront, drawn from the back of the boat / vessel is in a state run, washed away, and immediately stretched by hand.
These tools tend to be destructive and highly selective. Fishing differentiated tuna longline, drift longline, longline equipment, fishing rods Tonda, and others.
Bubu is one tool catcher static, generally shaped cage, a trap where the fish will easily fit without any coercion and hard to get out because it was blocked in various ways.
The materials used to make traps: bamboo, rattan, wire, mesh, clay, plastic, and so forth. Operation in the bottom waters, in surface waters, strong currents in the river area, and in tidal areas.
These tools tend to be selective, because fish caught in it. Although likely not destructive, but for platforms (Stow net) then setting its network mesh size and also the location of installation must comply.
Examples of traps are sero (guiding barrier), platforms (Stow net), bubu (portable traps) and other traps.
8. Shellfish and seaweed gatherers
Tools collecting shellfish and seaweed in general are designed with simple operation and the exertion done by a small scale. This tool is selective and not destructive, because it is intended to capture targets such as shellfish.
Examples of shellfish gatherers are scratching (rake), clutches, and stagnant clams. Meanwhile, examples of seaweed collectors in the form of equipment simple pole-shaped ends. However, this means destroying the habitat of aquatic environment if not done according to procedure.
9. Reef Fish trawl (Muro-ami)
Reef fish trawl (Muro-ami) is an instrument made from netting the arrest, which consists of the wing and the pockets are in the convoy operation conducted fish will be caught so it can fit into the bag that had been installed first.
These tools tend to be destructive and not damage the ecosystem, because the method of operation that is not up damage the reefs.
Use of this tool made by some fishermen to swim, surprise reef fishes of driving while carrying equipment. Named trawl reef fish as its primary purpose is to capture the kinds of reef fish.
Consisting of the stem (wood, bamboo) with behind barbed ends (eye spear) and pull the rope tied to the eyes of the spear. Pull rope is held by fishermen and then after the spear to hit the rope was pulled to take the catch.
Rifle is a tool catcher consisting of arrows and stalk rifle. Arrest with a gun is generally done by doing the dive on the reef waters. To arrest with normal arrows, is generally done near the shore or shallow water.
Hand harpoon catcher is a device consisting of a spear and a long rope tied to the eyes of the spear. Hand harpoon is intended to capture whales, which direct the spear thrown by hand towards the target (the pope) from the boat.
The trend is relatively simple fishing gear is not destructive and highly selective, because intended to capture a species. But it can destroy the habitat if misused.
